Jon Butler and Charlotte Taylor lead the start lists for the Barry Island 10k this coming Sunday.
The race returns for its sixth edition on a new earlier May date and will host the second fixture in the 2026 R4W 10k Series at the quirky and popular Seaside Town, famed for the Gavin and Stacey Sitcom Series.
Jon Butler (29:52) is the fastest on paper and proved current form with a second place at the ABP Newport 10K three weeks ago and with a runner-up finish at the Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10K on Sunday.
Butler is a R4W race stalwart and eyes a possible R4W 10K Series victory this season.
Next fastest is Army Captain Sam Griffiths (30:04) who has shot to prominence on the local racing scene in recent months, improving his lifetime best to an impressive 30:04 at the ABP Newport 10K.
Adam Bowden (30:26) was the winner here in 2022 and more recently at the ABP Newport Half Marathon last month with a time of 69:54.
Finally, Matt Verran (31:04) will be in action following his recent Marathon debut in London.
Charlotte Taylor (33:27) heads the women’s field and boasts an impressive half marathon personal best of 70:38 earned with a third place finish at the Manchester Half Marathon in late October, two weeks after finishing as the top Briton at the Oysho Cardiff Half Marathon.
Olivia Tsim (33:48) will also be in action and was second at the Adidas Manchester Marathon on her marathon debut last year and is a previous winner of the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K.
Tamara Beach (34:29) has a 5km best of 16:10, indicating that her 10km best may be due for revision.
Georgia Palmer (35:00) will be joined by R4W race regular Donna Morris (35:15) who lines up here as the runner up from Caerphilly on last weekend.
